About 2 hours later we arrived at camp echo. We all got off the bus and waited around for the camp director to tell us what cabins we'll be sleeping in. I took a look around and breathed in the fresh air.
"Ahhhh nature." I said to myself.
"Haha yea Tarzan…nature." I heard someone from behind me say.
I turned around to find DJ standing in front of me.
"Yea right…Tarzan." I chuckled.
"Hey man you know Tarzan gotta hook up wit a Janeeeeee."
I raised my eyebrow, "And where would Tarzan happen to find a Jane around here. In a tree?"
"Naw dawg." he laugh, "I heard on the bus from a couple guys, that there is a yoga camp full of girls not too far from hear."
"Oh really…well I don't think I'm interested in finding a Jane a the moment."
"Man please. It's sure to be some shorties over there. Trust me, you gonna want a Jane dawg."
Another guy came up next to DJ.
"Oooh man did I just hear you say there's a camp with girls near here???"
"Yea man a yoga camp."
"Oooh baby! That's a plus for me. I like my ladies wit a little flexibility."
"I heard dat." DJ agreed.
"Um dude what's a shorty?" I interrupted.
They both looked at each other in shock and then looked at me like I was crazy."
"Dawg…you don't know what a shorty is? Are you gay?"
"Haha man leave him alone," laughed and stepped in, "Leave him alone man. We'll fill him in on all the terms he needs to know, later. In the mean time I'll tell you that a shorty is a girl….a sexy girl."
"Ohhhhh I." I nodded.
"Yea man we gotta teach you the terms." said the other guy, "Anyway, was sup Tarzan my names Shaffer Smith."
"Oh cool my names Brian. Brian Mathews." I said shaking his hand.
"Cool." he smiled.
"ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! Boys settle down." yelled someone with bull horn.
We all turned toward where the sound was coming from and so did all the other guys in the camp.
"Ok hello boys!" started the camp director, "Welcome to Camp Echo. My name is Mr. McKinley. First I'll introduce you to the our and your cabin leaders and the rest of the staff. Better yet I'll let them introduce there selves."
A girl with auburn colored hair stepped forward.
"Uh. Hi! My name is Cassie. And I'll be in charge of the horseback riding activities. And I'm also in charge of cabin B."
She stepped back and a guy stepped up this time.
"Sup? My names Kyle I'll be the leader of cabin A. And I'm also in charge of baseball and swimming activities."
Another girl stepped up with a bright smile on her face, "Hi my name is marvelous! I'm the leader of cabin C, I'm in charge of singing and dancing lessons. And yes guys, men do ballet and sing opera without shame. So you shouldn't be ashamed either."
A couple of guys chuckled and she continued, "I'm also the instructor at the yoga camp across the a mile across from the lake."
DJ, Damien, and I looked at each other smiling. But my smile was more of a nervous worried smile.
What have I gotten myself into.
The last guy stepped forward and introduced himself. "My name is Chris I'm the leader of the cabin D. I'm in charge of the tennis activities and the 10 mile run. Be prepared. Drink lots of water before we go on the hike. Lets see….today is Friday by the next Wednesday coming up we will start the process of the Mile runs with 1 mile. The week after that will be 2 miles and the week after that will be 3 working all the way up till 10. After we've completed the 10 mile process we will start on tennis training. I expect all of you to follow the rules and do as I say. I may not be in charge of this whole camp. But I've been told that I've been the toughest but best leader for the past 5 years. And to make sure I stay that way I will not waste my time with slackers. If you want to slack you can take your sorry happy ass and tap dance in a tu tu along with Ms. Marvelous over there. Am I clear?"
Most of the guys nodded their head. Some rolled their eyes. And other seemed to be a bit scared. Those were probably the "weaklings".
Marvelous glared at Chris and crossed her arms.
"Dude hello I'm right here!" she yelled.
Chris simply looked back at her and said, "I can see that."
She rolled her eyes and looked like she was about to yell something else until Mr. McKinley cut in, "Okkk ok now we will assign cabins."
"In my cabin, cabin A." Kyle shouted, reading from a list. "Will be Alex Cattheway, Ryan Sheckler, Christian Carmicheal, Derrick Johnson, Gabrielle Lawrence, and Jacob Kent."
They all went over to Kyle and began head towards cabin A. I sent a worried look Alex and he whispered in my ear. "It's okay Bre, you'll do fine by yourself. If you need me you know where to find me."
"Ok ….thanks."
Cassie was next to step up and started to call the names on her cabin list. "Ok um. Shaffer Smith, Cameron Hills, Jason Wells, Damien Johnson, Kyler Stutton, anddddd Brian Cattheway."
I was felt a little relieved that Damien and Shaffer would be sharing a cabin with me. But even more relieved that I didn't have to be in Chris's cabin. We all headed towards our cabin and I claimed the first bunk that I saw. I shrieked and jumped climbed on top of the bunk in the far corner. My cabin mates looked at me like I was weird.
"Dude did you just shriek?" asked on of the guys.
"Uh no. no I uh -I sneezed!"
"Oh…."
They all picked out their own bunks and started to unpack. I just realized that I was so worried about what cabin I was going to be in and if either one of the guys I met on the bus would be in my cabin, that I had forgot to check and see what my other 3 cabin mates looked like. One guy and emo look to him and he had snake bites on his bottom lip. "Nice." I thought "Cute."
Another had goldish green eyes and looked to have a little stubble growing on his chin. "Neh so so. He's alright." I thought.
And the last cabin mate was cute. Very Cute! He had skater boy hair, icy blue eyes, and nice lips. If I were dressed as a girl right now I'd volunteer to place a kiss upon them.
My thoughts were interrupted by Cassie. "Ok guys. Even though I called your names outside I would like for you to introduce your selves to everyone here in the cabin and then say one thing you enjoy doing or one thing you like in general. Hmm okkkk lets start off with Shaffer Smith."
Shaffer turned to all of us with a grin on his face. "Hey yall. As the lady said My name is Shaffer Smith. And enjoy doing anything in particular." He stopped and looked at Cassie with a flirty smirk on his face. "But I sure like something in general….girls." he finished winking at Cassie.
"Oh um haha ok." Cassie turn slightly pink and pointed to me. "Your turn."
"Uh I um. Well I'm Brian Cattheway. And I guess I like playing guitar."
"Ooh really? that's cool." Cassie replied. "Hmmm next issss Mr. Wells."
"Oh. Hi. My name is Jason Wells, and I like to skate."
"Hmm cool cool. Next….Mr. Sutton."
He rolled his eyes, "My name is Kyler. And that's all you need to know."
"O-oh. Well...ok…Kyler. Uhhhh next is Mr. Johnson." she smiled.
"What's up yall. My name is Damien Johnson. And I-….well I sing."
"Ahhhh that's great Damien. Hopefully I'll get to hear you sing in Marvelous's class sometimes."
I doubt anyone else heard it but I heard Damien mumble. "I doubt it."
"Well ok now last but not least Mrrrr. Hills."
"Hi. My name is Cameron Hills. And I like to swim."
Once he introduced himself Kyler cut in. "When is lunch?"
"Oh it's at 1 o clock." she looked at her watch, "and right now it's 11 o clock. So I guess we all have 2 hours to kill. Ok let's go over your schedules for every week. Mondays you will be with me, horseback riding. Tuesday you will be with Kyle, either baseball or swimming, depending on which one Kyle decides to start with. On Wednesdays you'll be with Chris and I think when he said it he made it clear enough what you'll be doing. On Thursdays you'll be with Marvelous either dancing, or singing. And on Fridays you'll have the choice to choose any of those activities and do them again or you can go to the yoga camp with marvelous. And on saturdays and sundays the camp director says that your allowed to take the camp bus into town. OK. Well that's it. Oh and the leaders don't stay in the cabin with you guys. We have our own cabins. But don't get excited, if you act up I'll be here in a flash."
I gave a half hearted laugh and smiled.
"Ok so umm since it's Friday. Pick an activity fellas. The Mess Hall where lunch is served is not to far from here. I'll show you where it is later. There will be a lunch bell anyway. Sooooo. Um that's it."
She headed towards the door but hen turned around, "Oh and boys….Welcome to Camp Echo." she smiled.
